Mole Control
Mole Control
Why control moles? For some, it is the destruction caused to carefully maintained gardens, golf courses or gallops .but for farmers, it can be that the pushed up surfaces get into grassland silage which are fed to cattle and sheep in winter months, which has the potential to contaminate meat and milk with listeriosis bacteria. Soil entering silage bales can accelerate decomposition and stones pushed onto the suface can damage agricultural machinery.
We offer two methods of control which are trapping and gassing.
Trapping
We use a variety of traps to catch moles, each trap being selected to suit the individual and soil type. They are placed between mole hills in the tunnel system and marked with small flags so that activities in fields can be ongoing with the traps being visited within a 24 hour cycle.
Gassing
There are several formulations of fumigant aluminium phosphide approved for use on moles. The tablets or pellets are placed in the moles run, via a hole made into the tunnel and the gas is given off when the chemical is exposed to moist soil.
These products can be used in a range of situations like grassland and sports fields but cannot be used near occupied buildings. All of our operators are trained for this application if required.
